Sonny Rollins at the Village Vanguard. Yesterday I played all four of the Sonny Rollins albums which I own one after the other and enjoyed them so much that I decided to explore more of his music. The Penguin guide gave the RVG remaster of this recording a rosette, so that's what I've gone for.

Hi Kuma,

A charity shop find

but, it was buy one, get one free and the assistant would not let me have just one, so I went back to the rack and picked up the first one -

I have never heard of Wheeler Brothers, but played the two discs one after the other. I got what I expected from the Vaughans.  Wheeler Brothers was a pleasant surprise. An underlying feeling of similarity to Counting Crows. What really stood out fof me was the comparison of the percussion on thd two discs. When it comes down to it the Vaughans is a rather monotonous whack, whack, whack. Wheeler Brothers contains some really subtle complex stick work. Worth a listen!

Great album, Bert. It looks like you're filling in some gaps in your Santana collection. I hope you've got Caravaserai - definitely my favourite, which I only discovered from this forum a couple of years ago.
