Very good test film for surround sound title 'All is Lost'. Lots of creaking and sounds of the sea. I think that Robert Redford must be a sailor - well worth watching
I have an older AV2 that turns on but has a rapidly blinking light on the front panel but no display and it seems frozen. I seem to remember that if I touch buttons in certain order it may unlock the unit but that was years ago and I forgot the...
Hello, does anybody know if the 2 x RCA #1 tape output of the AV2 actually outputs any converted signal in analogue bypassing the volume control (and the preamp section), so that the AV2 can, at need, be used as a pure DAC for any digital...
In my search of a soundwise compatible dac i might be tempted to purchase a preloved AV2. Word online is that it's quite a good dac on it own and i might just try this out. I have a quick question though about my options. Section...
Hi Well I bought the Monitor audio cinema set up I am well pleased with it, the sub works very well but the speaker cones are very exposed don't have a mesh grill over them as anybody else had this problem if I put it in cupboard would it over heat...
Hi folks - i know what i'm doing on the music side of streaming but have no real idea how to do the same with video. What i'd like to do is to have my DVDs (no Blu Rays yet - had my n-Vi for too long !) stored on one central NAS drive and be able to...
1. What cable do you recommend/use to connect it's 2-channel balanced RCA (or XLR) outputs into Naim amplification ? 2. Do you connect it to your NAC or NAP ? 3. Anything specific worth noting when connecting to a 52/250 ? Thanks in advance, rohit
Hi there, It's currently proving difficult to find a second-hand n-Sub, so am looking into alternatives. The current setup is simple: n-Sats, Oppo 103D, Mac Mini, AV2, 250.2. I've seen forum references to REL, MJ Acoustics etc. but...
Hi all the warning lamp is finally on my projector, lamp hours. i am now looking at replacement bulbs, and the variation is cost is puzzling original holder original lamp aftermarket holder etc etc can anyone share a...

I loved BrBa from the onset. What did you think? Edgy.... artistic.... progressive.... alternative.... stimulating.... It has been the only TV drama I've watched since 'The Shield' ended on FX in 2008. Is there anything out there...
Hi I have a suround system 5 speakers and a sub woofer the speaker are two in one it means they are two directional , My amp is onkyo tx nr609' I never seem to set it up properly as any one got one they may be able to help me, regards
I've just bought a very good condition Denon AVR-2600 for my son. He only wants to us the 5.1 audio. Center Sub and Rear speakers have full signal and work fine. Main Speakers in either A or B mode receive no signal - just a low level buzz in the left...
We have recently got a new TV a 42" LG, we have only been watching source from the Sky+ box via HDMI and everything seems fine. To-day we decided to watch a DVD, but from both the Sony BRP and the Pioneer DVD P/R when a DVD is is playing we get...
Why bother with a new thread? Often I will buy the DVD rather than the BR, but sometimes the difference is more than just a minor improvement in picture quality. I bought the BR of El Cid. This is a great film, but one with a truly...
Have just found that the remote is not controlling my nVi. Changing batteries has not helped. It does still control the volume of my SN! Any thoughts? Peter
I would be very grateful for 5.1 sub sat recommendations to partner a Naim n-Vi. I have no local options for demos unfortunately. I am aware of the limitations of the n-Vi with regards to the latest sound formats and am not considering ditching the n-Vi. I watch films and listen to music in equal measure. A separate Blu-ray player will be used for Blu-ray films but the built in cd on the n-Vi will be used for music. I am willing to pay up to £2,000 on speakers. Thank you for your time.
Watched it complete good drama the two best monarchs we ever had they had complete power,But things turn out for the best Henry messed it up but Lizzy put it right we ca learn a lot from history.
Dear Richard and the administrators this area, Home Theatre, seems to have gone into separate lockdown for anything older than a month.
Hello all. I want a new TV but am very out of touch with all this. Our 'main' TV us still an analogue 30" Toshiba from turn of the century. Great picture and great sound and somehow much more 'depth' to the image than many flat screens since....
So....
As an n-Vi afficionado and a Home Theatre stalwart I've had some fun ideas for where to take the AV side of my system to since a recent house move.
I've only recently trodden the BluRay path with an older oppo (83) and have been...
Hi guys my n-vi appears to have given up the ghost. Any ideas for a replacement ? The n-vi powers the centre and rear speakers and my naim set up takes care of the fronts. Thanks tony
Interesting article on BBC Watchdog about HDMI cables Please click HERE if interested i remain unconvinced that anything other than a well made cable is relevant in the digital domain. I accept suppressing RFI and EMI is...
Looking for an old black and white film James Arness starred in it, Many imitations but this was the first.
Hi all Watching the blu-ray of The Grateful Dead Movie (which is renowned for its awesome sound quality) I was struck by just how rubbish the sound from my 32-in Samsung flat screen is (it is also really bad for speech). I am thinking about getting a soundbase to stick under the telly (not interested in a speaker system, or soundbar, they are too intrusive). A friend of mine has a Bose soundbase, which is very neat looking and sounds OK, but for £350 I think I can do much better. I've been...
