Streaming Audio
I've just completed ripping the new Wilko Johnson CD, which is coming up as "unknown" album and artist. Although I've managed to edit the track details, nServe on both my iPad and MacBook Pro reports that it has been unable to edit the album and artist titles. Any ideas chaps?
i have two muses the normal one and a qb. My qb is working perfectly in kitchen and I see it in app in iPad. For some unknown the normal Muso disappeared off the app yesterday although it was receiving internet stations. This morning disconnected the router, turned off the Muso an on turning on both devices, I find I cannot connect Muso. The purple light changes to orange and the reverts after a minute or so back to purple. Yes I am using WiFi only but router is in same room. Great machines.
The latest issue of Critic dropped onto my door mat this morning. I've only had time for a quick scan through but noticed it has an article on Audio Networking - Martin Colloms assess the sound quality of different network switches . It might be of interest to a few on here given it discusses the venerable Cisco 2960 and optimisation of said switch
I face some problems with sonicorbiter /roon...it seems, that the unit powers- off when loosing network connectivity. Can one confirm same issue? If one runs nucleus, does it has this problem as well? MANY thanks folks! Ralf
SSD = Solid State Drive. The question might have been asked before, but put it again. ???? Which SSD, do you think is best if we just talk SoundQuality.? Got a suggestion for....... ◾ Crucial MX 100 SSD 512 GB. Old or new doesn't matter,I want the best.!! But I have no idea today, it's been a while since I compared these. /Peder ????
Anyone else puzzled by the number of options, products and combinations available these days? I currently have a UnitiQute (Mark 1) which I purchased very soon after it was launched. I used it quite happily for many years with my old Sonus Faber grand piano speakers although I always had the feeling that it was slightly underpowered. Until about 3 years ago, I got the opportunity to get a NAP 250-2. Amazing immediate uplift in sound. Everything had more life, power and passion. Still I think...
Could someone tell me which network protocols are used for Room Discovery within the Naim app? Yesterday I've changed my network from one subnet to multiple subnets, my Naim NAC-N 272 now separated from my wireless devices. After the change, my 272 cannot be found automatically any more. What does work is manually add the 272 to the app. But of course I want to know why it's not working any more and thus I need to know which protocol is used for this discovery process. Thanks!
I have owned a Unitiserve ssd for a few years. Recently when ripping new cd's I have found that neither the cd's nor the album art is recognised and have spent a lot of time manually editing them on n-serve. On this forum I can see that a firmware update (1.7b) is available and this should help me. I contacted Phil Harris and asked if he would be kind enough to send me a disc. Unfortunately he tells me that one is not available and sent me a link to updates on the Naim site. I am not really...
Thought I would see what all the fuss was about and have just bought a Cisco switch from ebay, (only £45!). However my version is Cisco WS-C2960-8TC-S. Most on this site refer to a version ending 8TC-L. Is there any difference between the two? I can’t see anything obvious on web searches and in an earlier discussion on this forum Simon In Suffolk (I think referring to a G model) made a comment that they are all pretty much the same. If I made a schoolboy error then I can always resell it.
I’ve posted recently about upgrading my Unitiserve to firmware 1.7b. I appreciate all the advice and it’s now been upgraded. But now, when I rip a classical CD, it almost seems to get lost. If I rip a Beethoven disc, there is no field for composer so it my show up on my iPad under artists, conductors, albums, etc. but not under Composer>Beethoven, which is the place to find it most readily. I wrote to Eric Adler at Naim about this and he proposed two solutions: replace my US (with 2GB...
I have been running my Atom/Iotas via WiFi for a couple of months as the router is several rooms away. I have been very happy with the sound (some (now resolved) room/acoustics issues notwithstanding), but I have been intrigued as to what different there would be if I connected the Atom directly to the router. To find out I bought a 30m CAT6 network cable, which I traipsed around the house (much to the 'amusement' of my wife) and this morning plugged it into the Atom. Well, there was a...
A nice 'new' 2960 has just arrived. By new I mean unused and sealed in the original box, with all accessories intact, but with a manufacture date of 2011. I fitted the SFP fibre module, replaced the fibre patch with an LC-LC version, configured and it's working beautifully. I have had limited time to listen, but initial impressions are favourable. Slightly more 'air' with a more natural decay to notes. At present I'm still using an Audioquest Cinnamon cable for the last metre.
.....and I had a longish car journey today I’d rip a couple of albums to a stick to play in the car. Okay I only have iTunes and I know it’s not the smartest of software but having completed the exercise I then went and tried said music in the car. Complete disaster - Jeff Beck, Imelda May and Benjamin Britten - very kindly gifted to me by a member of this forum - we’re all intermingled. In fact Les Illuminationa immediately follows Big Block!. Back to playing CDs - arghhhh.
So....My mates sister....(who happens to be very cute), had heard about this mint Stereo at my house from her brother...a very humble 200Dr, Atom, B&W setup. So she popped round for a listen to her favourite song, see what the fuss was about. Her words with no prompting "It sounds like they are in the room" Surely the holy grail comment for all of us when someone new comes for a listen. Peace all. FYI...I'm not saying how happy she was, just don't mention it to my mate
Dear members, may I know anyone encounter this code before in Uniti series? what does it mean? It happens after restarting the machine and blocks to normal menu screen. Unplug the power line did not help. Thanks!
I am looking at switching things around when I move house and I would like to use the Uniti Atom with my AV amp so that the Atom drives the front two speakers. Is it as simple as connecting the RCA cables from the AV amp pre-out to the Analog Input on the Atom and choosing "AV fixed Volume" in the app? Or am I missing something ?
After having suffered Naim streamers for the past several years, I've finally found the solution that I think is the way forward: Running Allo DigiOne into Naim Dac into 272/250. The Naim Dac is better than the 272's dac and the Allo DigiOne leaves nothing to be desired. At $200 more than a bargain - it's the right price for throwaway tech that changes everyday. In any case, Roon runs on it - as does upnp. Will sell the 272 when I find a 282 at a good price. (or a Nac72). Leaving NDS/552/500...
HI Anyone using a Mac through their Naim equip? Currently my study system is a Superuniti with Neat IOTA speakers on Iso Acoustics desk stands. This sits next to my 27 inch iMac, what would be the best way to connect the iMac to the Superuniti, there are a lot of interesting live concert videos on You Tube and it would be good to pipe the sound through the system occasionally. The iMac has a combined miniToslink/3.5mm output socket and of course USB and Lightning sockets. Presumably I would...
I would like to have a go at assembling my own custom NAS. I am a computer scientist by profession but it is a vast area and I would like some advice. I'd like the specification to be as high as possible. For the budget of a grand, would it be possible to design a NAS that is respectable compared with the current offerings?
Just wondering if anyone else experiencing a drop out issue on the Nova when using Airplay? Plays for about 40 - 50 seconds then drops out for about 5 seconds. Have tried from iPhone X, iPhone 6s, Apple Watch 3 and iTunes (on Windows 10) but same result. Am trying to engineer a move from Spotify to Apple Music so this is a major hurdle to that. Thanks Denis
I've bought a Qnap 251 Nas and have got it connected to my network and internet etc I've updated the firmware and downloaded and installed a couple of useful looking apps on it But at present I cannot seem to get it to be "seen" by my Core although it shows up on my PC network. Is there a good website or video that anyone can suggest that can walk a numpty though these things I also wanted to rip my DVD films to it and stream them to my TV...but again no idea how to do It My WD Nas was quite...
Hi I currently stream all of my music ripped to FLAC from a NAS (QNAP) using Asset to my Superuniti. I've read several times that Naim streamers prefer WAV files, so thought I'd try transcoding (is that the right word??) to WAV via Asset. At the bottom of the "Configure" page in Asset there are a number of options under the heading "Audio Format Streaming" is it just a case of ticking the drop down menu against Flac selecting WAV and clicking apply? Any help much appreciated. Thanks Chris
Hello, I have advised a friend to purchase a MUSO. She is running Minim Server on a MacBook and using MUSO in wireless mode. She has a bunch of albums on the Mac in low definition and these are played with no interruptions by the MUSO. When she tries to play high definition WAV and FLAC files these suffer long interruptions in reproduction and often they cannot be played at all. Could you please provide help to solve the issue or direct me to an exiting topic in the forum? Many thanks.
Hi, Newbie here, so be kind! Due to downsizing, I’m looking to get an all-in-one streaming system. Current system is Audiolab 8200CDQ, 8200MB power amps into PMC DB1i speakers. For streaming I am using a Squeezebox touch and the majority of listening is via Tidal. My budget would extend to, say, a Naim Uniti Atom, but I am fine with looking at the used market, so something like Uniti 2, Superuniti or Linn Majik DSM. I'm happy to keep the speakers providing they are a good match for the front...
I cannot play gapless albums on my Nova unless I play from downloaded files on: 1 - WD NAS with Twonky 2 - connected USB device This is fine for CD rips or HD purchases (ignoring metadata issues), but what I really want to do is stream gapless albums using Qobuz Sublime. So far these methods do not work with my Nova: - Chromecasting via Qobuz iOS app - Logging into Qobuz and playing via Audirvana on Mac - Using Qobuz desktop app on Mac For one reason or another I do not want Java on my Mac...
