I dare say we're all feeling a bit guilty if these are mistakes, but they may not be I suppose and Qobuz have always honoured any bargains which is very decent if they were errors.  Doubt we'd be bothered if this was a service offered by a huge multinational but I think we're all conscious deep down that the company had financial problems a few years ago, and when even the likes of the newer but bigger Tidal are having concerns raised about viability I'd hate to think that purchases like this could cause issues for the company or individuals.

Some of these items are dare I say it very niche products as the Callas collection was last year - I've looked at that ring cycle many times but would be unlikely to buy at £50, or even my sublime discounted price r several other offer prices in the last year or so but at the listed price I'll give it a go even if I listen to it once or never at all.  I'm no fan of some of the other bargains mentioned but for a very good price I'll give them a shot.  Perhaps that's the logic here - better to have many small value purchases from curious people who'd never pay full price than to have an occasional premium price purchase.  Again it also gets non-members to go to the site for a sniff and that may well drum up some more custom.

Many of us may also have previously purchased titles on vinyl/CD, even cassette, and have the music on several physical formats - little incentives might get us to purchase again.

The big stuff will only work from the Windows app for me.

It wasn't too intuitive how to use though: Log in > click on the tiny shopping cart at the top > hover over the picture of the set you want to download and click on the three dots > select download

The download queue should automatically operate then (the circle with the down-arrow next to the shopping cart.

Has anyone had trouble downloading the Wagner?  I keep getting a fair way through and then my computer says the connection has been lost, so I have to start again.

Finally got to bed about 4am... some downloads successful, some more needing track by track downloading.  Been at it correcting, re-loading TAR files this morning... but well worth the effort.

Thanks to Nick I realised that the standard desktop app can be a downloader, and can download individual tracks in an automated fashion, so the issue with dropped downloads of .tar files was sorted.

Beware if using the app without checking settings though...  I didn't initially realise that the app also defaults to downloading at CD resolution, so HD files are transcoded to a lower bitrate.  There's an option in account settings to change it.

There do seem to be plenty of anomalies at the moment where Hi-Res is cheaper than 16/44 or even sublime.

Yikes indeed! I have the Hi-Res version of this on a Blu-Ray disc which came with the 200 Anniversary box set, but I have no way of ripping it and getting it into the downloads folder on my NS01. I have all three CD masterings of this recording, so should I buy this same recording again for a 4th time? Mmm....Probably not.

I decided to pick up the Beethoven, but since I don't like using Paypal, I had to add a bit more to reach the minimum card payment.  I found a DG set of Mendelssohn's symphonies 1-5 and a 7 disc set of Otis Redding live for 49p each.

And when Qobuz goes into liquidation due to large fees owned to record companies that for some reason cash receipts wouldn’t cover, well we know who to blame.

None of the prices went up on me in the basket. Could be a mistake, could be genuine offers. Impossible to say. 

I was going to say that I've shoveled hundreds into Qobuz down the years, but on reflection I think another zero is required. Frightening how it mounts up. Paying bargain prices for stuff that I would never buy at full RRP for, has been a mainstay of my music collecting and discovery since I was 11 years old and scouring sales bins for  LPs at 1/6. 

It is reassuring to know that nothing has changed. Of course, what also has not changed is that any loss of profit for the industry and its distribution chain is always the fault of the buyer. Apparently, we don't buy enough stuff and we don't pay enough. If we avail yourself of special offers it only goes to show how dishonest we are. How very irritating for them.

That's just one example. Many other bargains on that site. It markets itself as a specialist dance site, but I've downloaded a lot of stuff from there.

If buying several albums at discount prices (ones I'd have never have considered buying otherwise) affects Qobuz's financial viability I'd be disappointed, but like you I used to love scouring the vinyl bargain bins and a good price would lead me to try things I'd not buy at full price with the benefit that if I actually enjoyed the artist I'd be far more likely to get their next releases at full price.  One could argue that the ubiquity of streaming plans lets you try before you buy these days (or not buy at all), but I suspect those of us who actually purchase music are rapidly becoming a tiny minority.

It'd be interesting to know with the streaming companies who also sell downloads what proportion of their revenue comes from monthly plans vs outright 'purchases'.

As one who has purchased so many things in duplicate on cassette/vinyl/CD and later Hi-Res download or beta/VHS/DVD/BluRay/HD-DVD/4kBluRay/iTunes SD/HD/4k I suspect my conscience is far cleaner than the majority who download illegally and don't give a damn, but the industry still hates me for wanting to 'format shift' or use legitimately purchased material fro personal consumption that suits my own personal AV set-up.  When will they learn?

My first cut price LP bargain was Jethro Tull's Benefit. Bought for pennies. Since then (1973) I've bought every format in every resolution of everything they've released. Plus the videos and DVDs. On balance I'd say the hook worked in the industry and to a much smaller extent, the artist's favour.

Qobuz are a business, not a sole trader, self employed Fred in a shed. They will be covered for something like this - assuming it was an accident.
