Carly Simon - No Secrets

I love the cover - she is very beautiful and sang beautifully! It is evocative of a period when I too was young.

Alan, what does it sound like and which songs do you like best.

Phil

Hi Phil, the album is well recorded, produced by Richard Perry, with a stellar cast of people helping out.The style is uncluttered giving prominence to her vocals and the two more better known songs "The Right Thing To Do" and "You're So Vain" are representative of how the record sounds. All the songs IMO are of equal quality and as an album it flows well ,but have to admit it is the only Carly Simon album I own ,so I don't know how it compares with the rest of her work.Recommended

Alan

Just ordered it. Thank you Alan.

[@mention:12970396060785205], Mike, I must order some Mary Black. Where should I start?

Phil

Try Babes in the wood for a starter.....her voice is divine.

The "Hello Big Man" album is a must have.

If you search "Original Album Series" at Amazon, or visit HMV and look you'll see loads of box sets of 5 disks for a tenner (usually).

This is in a pack with, I think, the preceding and next 3 albums by Ms SImon so is a no-brainer if you want to try out an artist on the cheap - £2 per album, vs (usually) £10 for one of them. Packaging is minimal - just a card sleeve with no booklet, etc - just like the original record would probably have been.

With Carly Simon, If you like one of the albums you'll probably like the rest, and it's no more lost than buying a single disk if you don't !

I've bought quite a few of these box sets as an introduction to artists and find them good value - I've ended up with albums I'd never have considered buying on their own, but as an efective freebe buying the box was a no brainer.

Now you've inspired me to go and listen to No Secrets ... which is what I think this thread is supposed to be about
