Hi everyone, For the Naim family, conversation and discussion is everything (apart from the music of course!) We love to encourage the debate and support the sharing of some extraordinary expertise across the Naim Forum, and it is one of the foundations of our world. We all participate in the community in different ways, and to varying degrees, but one thing is for sure, it is fascinating, informative, passionate, and loads of fun. So, we want to make it even easier to do this, and we’re...

The Beast will arrive and will be installed tomorrow morning in my system. So I thought it was a good moment to open up a thread with the fist experiences, also giving others the possibility to share their first impressions with the beast. I feeel a bit like a little child who has his birthday tomorrow. I assume that even while it will be nice weather during the weekend that I will be a spending a lot of hours with my system. And as expected my car will not arrive before the ND555.

A few things have run through my mind regarding this recently: 1 - Do you always clean the record prior to first play or check it for major faults requiring return first? I tend to play the album first, but I guess this could just make any gunk or tiny particles more embedded and difficult for fluid to remove afterwards? 2 - How many times? If a clean gives a good improvement but there are still some niggling pops/clicks do you try again? 3 - How many solutions? I seem to have gravitated to...

Hi In my main system I have a DAC V-1 which I now use solely as a headphone amp. I would now like to use it on occasions with a pair of Bluetooth headphones. Has anyone else done this ? If so what transmitter are you using please ? I look forward to the feedback Regards Terry Smith

I will shortly being getting a home demo of the Titan`s . I have a very large room (30ftx20ft with very high cathedral ceilings to 16ft). My current speakers are Focal 1038be`s. I use CDS2, 01 tuner, 52/135s. I have been told that my current electronics will easily drive the Titans. I am looking forward to the demo. Any thoughts on these Titans? David

Hi all, so I'm in the process of putting together my first hifi system, which is looking like being an NDX2 with an Supernait 2 or 250 DR. I will obviously be auditioning before I buy but in the meantime my question is concerning speakers, if I'm looking at say some Dynaudio SP40'S or PMC Twenty5.22's, would an equivalently priced floorstander be a better option for a 6m X 4m room or be complete overkill?

Hello, I just purchased a pair of Naim Allae speakers to replace my Credos. The alloy speaker plinths and cross bar were removed during shipping, the manual does not detail how the alloy plinths are attached. I have tried googling pictures without much success. I’m hoping someone can confirm my thinking for the assembly of the plinth. There is a half circle rubber washer, a metal washer, a plinth, and the crossbar. There are a couple of ways the rubber washer can be fitted. My assumption is...

Hi, I’m interested in the pre-naim fraim history between the two brands. For those that can remember could you please fill me in on the association. Did naim use mana racks at show or demos? Was naim sold at shops using mana as the best platform in the day. Did JV like mana or even use it in his own system. Did the boxes get listen to on mana at the factory in the listening tests. Pls keep you personal love/hate mana opinion to yourself. Cheers

Are the Naim Fraim specs for dimensions listed on the website up to date and precise? I am deisgning a two stack system to intregrate with my system and room, and don't want surprises? This what is listed. Standard level 175 mm Medium level 250 mm Tall level 324 mm Base level 155 mm (all inc. glass shelf I may use Fraimlite as a top shelf to finish off each stack, but no components will sit on them (just records and stuff). The height for that is given as: Standard level 150 mm My plan for...

Welcome to System Pics 2019. To start things off, here is a picture of my setup. The only thing that has changed since last year is the addition of a maple Fraim to match the speakers.

The photo shows my kit. The left hand rack is (bottom to top) : 300 Head, 252, Rega Aura but one loan instead of Aria The right is 300DR PS, SuperCap DR, 555DR PS, gap, CDX2, nDAC powered by 555DR, Rega RP10/ Aphelion all on Naim glass, cups and balls. As an experiment after a clean and redress I swapped the 555DR and SuperCap. The sound didn’t return to what I was expecting. The simplest description is that the excitement went. Bass texture was absent (hard instead), backing...

Hi everybody, my dealer offers me an ex-demo XP5XS at a 30% discount for my HDX. It's still about 1.5k... Is the effect worth the money? Grateful for your shared experience! Best Stephan

My Dad's 1978 Rega Planar 2 (wood surround, R200 S-shaped arm) was only giving sound on one channel. The bias had long since failed. A trade-in of the arm against an Audio Origami RB202 was decided upon. Today I fitted it. I'm not that handy so it was a bit of a struggle but eventually the three mounting holes were drilled through the melamine in the right place. The twenty year old stylus for the AT95e was also replaced. Sounds great. Much as I might like to see a Rega wallshelf and a white...

If one was running in a new SNAIC, should you leave the preamp playing continuously to speed up the process - and does it matter if the amp is muted or the volume turned to zero? How long will that normally take?

i read that men losing hearing in the upper frequency as they age, and women in the lower frequencies. (and there’s a joke in there as well - marital harmony since they can finally not hear each other). so - is it more of a the higher frequencies being attenuated - as in harder to hear, or is it like a high pass filter. if former, could explain the market for super bright speakers. If latter, could explain the market for speakers like harbeth - no bass or treble...

I have a 3.5 year old Unitilite which has worked great until recently. I went to use the CD player which has only been used for a handful of times, to find that it refused to recognise some CD's & even with the ones that it loaded it stopped after a couple of tracks & said dirty disc. I contacted Naim Support who told me the CD transport needed replacing. I decided to try a factory reset after which it displayed Error 61 - BridgeCo init fail, I turned off the power & the error...

A possibly stupid question, but it has tweaked my curiosity. I have been pondering a speaker upgrade for some time. A mate has thrown me a curveball, in that he knows that I listen at modest volumes, and he says that I am looking at this all wrong. So, his thinking is that speakers ‘come on song’ at different volume levels. He says that my Dynaudio Focus 160s might sound great to me, but at a normal listening level of 65dB (I just measured it with an app on my phone) then they are nowhere...

Happy new year to everybody! Thinking about new LS this year. Any recommendations? My current system: 252/SCDR / 300 / 802D / Bauer TT / CDX2 / ND5XS2 Listening to rock, pop and classic - so I am looking for an allrounder. Rock perhaps is most important. I liked Harbeth and Sonus Faber. Dali and Dynaudio I owned were ok but I think I prefer a bigger soundstage. My 802 I love but I need something new with more resolution and “freedom”, a bit quicker perhaps. Difficult? Limit is 10-12k,...

I made the mistake of taking a look at that auction site... and saw a set of briks together with a Chrome Bumber NAXO3 for sale for an acceptable price... so I've bought them. I have a CB active system using a NAXO2 and CB250s feeding into SBLs. So I wonder how different the briks will be? Sadly my (current) listening room/office is small (maybe 2.5mx3.5m) so the briks may be too much? A bit sad that it's only at this time in my life I'm able to indulge myself and the equipment is all...

Hi, I’ve searched for someone with experience pairing the Atom with XT6F, but with no success. Any chance that any of you have heard the combo and can give any feedback? I am a little worried the power of the Atom might not be adequate. I managed to buy the XT6F at a really nice price, but I have no amp at the moment and cannot get to hear them with an Atom, as no dealers have them both where I live. Cheers

I got a Project record cleaner last year and made up 500ml of their fluid and have used maybe half of it - looks fine. Next a 500ml bottle of London Jazz formula which is clearly identifiable due to the isopropyl alcohol. Finally I got some L'Art du Son and made up 500ml with that in a 'sterile bottle' from a pharmacy (same as London Jazz). I've not cleaned as many records as I'd like - primarily as I need something higher to put the cleaner on as it hurts by back bending down to clean them...

I just took delivery of a new Uniti Atom - can't wait to start listening to it! However I have been thinking about selling my Triangle Genese and move to a good standmount speaker instead - but I'm at a loss as to which might suit the Atom? I'm no bass-head and not a fan of too sharp highs - besides that, I'm open to just about anything. Bonus points for speakers that will fit into an interior with a fair bit of scandinavian late 50's -> 70's teak and rosewood furniture :) Thanks in advance!
